EFA Nationals Auction |

Great interest and strong bidding was evident for the two yearlings offered for sale at the EFA Nationals (Victoria) Auction of Youngstock at Werribee on Saturday night, 2nd December. Before a crowded arena, KOLBEACH VENETIAN, by Fernleigh Fine Print out of Chevalae, looked a picture in the arena and quickly climbed to top the sale at $20,000. KOLBEACH FANCY FREE, again by Fine Print and out of the imported mare, Highmead Fancy Free, also proved popular selling for $7000. Fancy Free is a half sister to the outstanding saddle pony, LJS Heavens Above, and a full sister to Supreme Champion, Kolbeach Be Free, who is being successfully campaigned in Victoria. We wish purchasers great success with their new acquisitions. |

KOLBEACH BE FREE (Fernleigh Fine Print out of Highmead Fancy Free), a two-year-old filly to make 14 hands, has been enjoying great success produced and shown by Robert Cockram in Victoria, for Kolbeach Stud. On her first outing, Seymour Agricultural Show, BE FREE not only took the overall youngstock award, but the Supreme Riding Pony Championship, qualifying for the Victorian Champion of Champions Show, another Supreme followed soon at Royal Geelong, and again at The Riding Pony Pageant. Another to qualify for the Champions of Champions in Victoria, is Lyn Warburton’s two-year-old filly, KOLBEACH CLASS, again by Fine Print and out of the Sandbourne Royal Ensign daughter, Fleetcroft LJS Royal Whisper. CLASS finished a great season in January last, by taking the Filly Championship at Melbourne Summer Royal, and this term continued her success by winning the Overall Riding Pony Championship at Dandenong Agricultural Show in November. CLASS is produced by Linda and Darryl Hayes, who are also responsible for Graham and Sue Elliott’s, KOLBEACH POMISE.
Kolbeach ponies had a great day at The Victorian Riding Pony Pageant in November. In addition to the Championships gained by KOLBEACH PROMISE and KOLBEACH BE FREE mentioned above, the Metherall Family’s, KOLBEACH CARNIVAL (Syon Splendour / Waverley Festivity) won both the Show Pony Ridden, and the Part Bred Welsh Ridden Championships, KOLBEACH CLASSICAL, (Carmargue Tribute / King Lodge Country Classic) owned by the Dempsey family, was awarded Champion Show Hunter Pony In Hand, later re-appearing in the ridden ring to stand Reserve Champion Ridden Show Hunter Pony.
Across
in West Australia, The Drexel Family’s, K.B.DANCES, by Fairley Tempest
out of Writhgil Concert, is proving a tough cookie to beat,
Flying the Kolbeach flag in South Australia, KOLBEACH MAGIC (Fernleigh Fine Print / Ancona Magic) produced by Lyndale Stables and ridden by Chris Lawrie, took the Galloway Ridden Championship at Adelaide Royal in August, whilst KOLBEACH TIDES (Carmargue Tribute / Braemore Seashells) won the Be Active EFA Regional Grand Slam Pony, for Jessica Winen. Another purchase from the 2003 Kirreway / Kolbeach sale, KOLBEACH GROOM, (Carmargue Tribute. / Talacharn Wedding Chorus.) took the Childs Ridden Riding Pony Championship, at the October South Australian Pony Of The Year Show. We are always pleased to hear any news of Kolbeach ponies throughout Australia, and would like to record their successes within these web pages.
