Autumn Round Up

It’s been a busy autumn for the stud, both at home and at shows. We were really proud of our young mare Ainthorpe Grace Darling when she won the Grand National Saddle pony title.

Prepared by Greg Gerry and Darren Telford she has come along very well in a very short career and she was well ridden at the Grand Nationals by Briony Payne.  - pictured opposite

Fernleigh Fine Print was Champion Riding Pony at Canberra and we are looking forward to being able to use him over the stud’s mares in spring.  He is proving to be a most exciting young stallion.

Perhaps even more exciting is the fact that our beautiful colt out of Holly’s Gem will be coming to Australia soon, although this causes us some deep regret, as it means that one of the senior stallions will have to be sold, as we don’t intend to make ourselves into a “stallion station.”

So, sadly, the lovely Syon Splendour will be offered for sale. He needs no introduction to Australian breeders, with successful progeny all around Australia, plus the fact that his sons are proving to breed on, and it is hoped that he will go to a breeding home that will continue to give this fine pony the opportunities he deserves.

Congratulations to Graham and Sue Elliot and Roger and Gayle Searle who have bought from us the beautiful colt KB Rembrandt, a magical colt from the beautiful imported mare Rotherwood Matinee by Fairley Tempest. He was champion foal at the South Australian Riding Pony Show, and is gorgeous, there is no other word for it.

With the foals now weaned, the forward planning for spring is well underway, and it’s been decided that Kolbeach will present some of their for sale stock at the Mirinda Stud Sale with Robyn and Peter Barry on December 8, the day after the EFA National Saddle Titles here in Victoria.

Keep watching for further details.

A reminder to all who have brought stock from us, to let us know when they do well so we can include them in the Kolbeach news or profile pages for you.
