Kolbeach Select Sale 2002

Kolbeach Stud presented eight youngsters for the Mirinda sale with a total of 46 to go under the hammer wielded by well-known auctioneer, Peter Heagley.

The Kolbeach ponies were in magnificent coat and condition, all mouthed, sweet and perfectly well mannered after what must have been a tedious trip across from the South Australian stud for the youngster and another few days at Werribee through the National Saddle horse titles.

They all fronted up to open day yards at Mirinda and were little angels apart from one that decided that digging a hole might lead to an escape to the green pastures ...a rarity as over in SA you don’t see much green grass.

The sale as most do started tentatively and this caused the first two, which were Kolbeach stock to be real bargains for their new owners!! By the time Kolbeach Dior hit the ring things were well and truly heated up.... this glorious filly drew gasps from the crowd and rightly so, she has a magnificent front, the most beautiful head and a really sweet personality. Okay from the moment I saw her over in SA she was my filly.....but too many moths flew out of my wallet, and I'd have to sell my mum to pay for her, so now I have to be content in picking her as my favourite and eagerly watch her show career unfold at the stables of Vince Corvi. Bidding sped to 15,000 then there was a $100 bid from the crowd with another phone bid coming thru and sealing her fate of going to Qld for $15,200. Dior was the top priced youngster over the day. She will stay in Victoria and be shown by Vicky & Chris Lawrie at the Summer Royal before going up to Queensland and her new home.
