....and it is a Kolbeach affair in the Small Pony Championships

When the Small Pony Championship got under way at Adelaide Royal, and it was a great day for Kolbeach stud when our stunning little Kolbeach Bouquet by Camargue Tribute won the tri-colour. Her work was perfect and was outstanding in her class. It's lovely to see a young pony with the temperament to be ridden by a small child like Ashlee Anderson, and the pair were obviously having a great time together.

Choosing the reserve must have been close as there were some lovely ponies in the line-up, but we were thrilled when Kolbeach Toystory was chosen. A great start to the season, and one that we hope will continue all around Australia, with Kolbeach ponies competing under saddle at the highest levels.

Spring Round-up at Kolbeach

Some time ago, when we started the Kolbeach stud, our long term plan was to hopefully produce saddle ponies and galloways of the highest possible quality.

It was a long wait but we had to be patient as we were sure we were on the right track..

The ponies as we sold them did indeed make the stud's name a producers of lovely led ponies, with wide sashes won at major shows throughout Australia, but now, with a very few of the ponies rising five, it makes us happy to know we were on the right track.

The saddle ponies have exceeded our wildest dreams. Our own little Kolbeach Bouquet has been judged champion small saddle pony at Adelaide and Melbourne Royal Shows and will compete for us at the EFA National titles in December. Bouquet, by Camargue Tribute from Talycharne Wedding Chorus is not only lovely but sweet with a temperament that allows her to be ridden by a nine-year-old girl.

She won't be the only Kolbeach pony at the EFA Nationals, with Kolbeach Classic competing for Queensland where he was champion large pony for Brooke Higgins.

Classic, from Syon Sheer Delight was EFA SA Newcomer Pony of the Year before being sold to Queenslands. He was also champion intermediate pony at the Northern Rivers Hack Council of the year, and Reserve at the Queensland Country Championship, a Grand National qualifier.

Catherine Gale's Kolbeach Toy Story was reserve to Bouquet at Adelaide Royal and was also the SA Riding pony Society's Newcomer champion in 2003.

The Metherall Family's lovely Kolbeach Carnival was champion newcomer at Hidden Valley, Barastoc and the Royal Summer Horse Show and Jenny Drew has shown KB Mask to be SA champion big pony newcomer with Charlotte Thompson riding KB Mask for Reserve.

Up in Queensland, KB Pride won the intermediate champion galloway award when ridden by Simon Deleeuw, and Joanne Stewart has just begun to show Kolbeach Print, one of the first of the Fine Print stock to come out under saddle.

Edwina Cullen has bought Kolbeach Surprise who is about to come out under saddle and Graham and Sue Elliot are showing Kolbeach Frame with Bree Elliot as the riders with great success. Graham and Roger Searle are looking forward to the first foals by Kolbeach Rembrandt, their lovely colt from the champion show pony Rotherwood Matinee, and Andrew and Charlotte Hunt are also anticipating their first foals by the lovely young stallion Kolbeach Royalty who is from the world famous mare Ardenhall Royal Secret.

Ashley Anderson who rides Bouquet for us has also bought KB Memoir, a half brother to Kolbeach Toy Story, and Delia Fogden has several very nice young Kolbeach horses ready to come out. KB Marine, a 14.2 galloway, Kolbeach Puzzle, and Holly's Play royally bred out of a Cusop Discipline, Holly's Gem daughter.

on to the young led ponies - and Bruce Flood is campaigning the gorgeous  Kolbeach Garland for us in hand. By Fairley Tempest from Sufton Wild Rose she was supreme youngstock at the Riding Pony show in SA in 2003 and was judged as the Best Two Year old riding Pony Exhibit at Brisbane Royal show this year.

Graham and sue Elliot bought the lovely dark chestnut Kolbeach Promise at our last sale and then won the champion filly award at the Melbourne Summer Royal, and Darryl Hayes showed the top priced gelding, KB Dances, from our last sale to win the champion gelding sash.

Tony Oliver Watkins is always a very astute judge and his purchase of the two-year-old filly Kolbeach Chatter was awarded with a win in her filly class.

We have been so lucky that the ponies have gone to very good show homes that produce them well, and in that way, assist us to promote the stud.

We will see you all at the EFA National titles in December. Come and talk to us about any of the youngstock we have at home in the paddock for sale.
